HOW TO PRINT ON A BALLOON
1. We first take your artwork and if it is not top quality we correct it by making shots of it on our high quality cameras. We want the artwork to be very black and have very crisp clean edges.
2. Your art is then exposed onto a screen mesh. The special material enables us to print very fine details and big bold solids. Artwork is etched on the screen using very fine holes pattern. The screen needs to transfer the appropriate amount of ink to the balloon so all the images of your artwork print evenly. Our exposed screens are created on very good equipment so there are no problems when it gets to our printing presses.
3. Finally your screen is placed on a printing machine. Ink is poured on to the top of the screen mesh. Depending on the volume of your order, each balloon is either hand fed or automatically loaded on to the printing press. The balloon is then blown up to roughly 60-70% of it's size for printing. The screen mesh lowers down flat on top of the balloon and the balloon is squeezed very flat.
4. The ink is then moved across the screen mesh with a squeegee and pused through the holdes of the screen mesh (etched out with your artwork), then onto the balloon. The screen mesh lifts up and the priting is done. The balloon is moved to the next cycle. The balloon always stays inflated and held straight out until the last cycle.
5. The balloon will move through the next few cycles where the ink will be air dried while it is still inflated.
6. In the last step the balloon is dropped into our conveyor belts and heated so that the balloon will shrink back to its original size. Since balloons are made of latex, they stretch out of their original shape when they are inflated.
7. The balloons are then put into plastic poly bags and are ready for shipping. We do not apply powder to the balloons so that the ink doesn't stick to one another (some of our competitors do this). Once the balloons discharge from the machine the ink is dry. Your balloons are good to go.
